Diaries Series

2006-2010

This series is mainly inspired by the writing and symbols found in a doodled diary, especially the honesty found in that private and most personal medium.

These paintings are large-scale oil and mixed media on canvas. Beer bottle foil used as improvised gold leaf, glitter, Sharpie, ink, charcoal, oil bars, spray paint and stencils are examples of the materials used freely along with traditional oils.

XXXO

XXXO was a project with Leanne Sargeant that began in February 2014. The goal was to take sexual imagery and pair it with a hug.

Some of the pieces were pretty risque, the four shown here are the tamest.

My pieces for the project were watercolor illustrations with poetry. I realized later they were illustrations of  intimacy that celebrated lust with innocence, wonder and play... and all were muddled with ideas of our place in the universe.

Odd Sections

2003-2005

Already objects, images of erotic models found in internet pornagraphy are further abstracted by odd cutting and cropping that obstructs comprehension of their original form. Through this, the figures become merely a design element in the overall painting and their original context and action is veiled, leaving behind only a decorative image of flesh without narrative.

These paintings are large-scale oil on canvas or iron-on transfer and mixed-media on watercolor paper.
